European, public, bionic vision MedTech supplements Board of Directors for global reach with US additions

Pixium Vision, publicly listed on Paris Euronext with a market cap of $30m, is engaged in the business of developing implantable medical devices to treat blindness resulting from the degeneration of retinal photoreceptor cells. They harness rapid advances in visual processing, micro-electronics, opto-electronics, neurobiology, and intelligent software algorithms to develop Bionic Vision Systems. These Bionic Vision Systems are aimed at compensating for profound vision loss and improving the independence, mobility and quality of life for patients suffering with retinal degenerative diseases.

Pixium Vision sought to add two additional Board of Directors based in the US to ensure they had a global balance and to bring further financial acumen with connections in the US investment and banking sector. In addition, they wanted to replace their Audit Committee Head.

The Approach

LifeSci kicked off the search by looking at multiple phenotypes including those with a financial background, ophthalmological experience, and/or an investment background. Following discussions with their management team and presenting an overview of the market we honed our search onto a handful of individuals to discuss the role with. The search went smoothly with high interest from the majority of potential candidates.

The Outcome

Out of the 4 potential candidates we presented, Pixium Vision selected Anja Kramer, CEO of Turn Biotechnologies and August Moretti, CFO of 4D Molecular Therapeutics. Anja was known to the company and highly recommended and August brings financial and legal expertise with strong connections across the US investment community. LifeSci completed the search in 4 months.
